Project Mission
Description

The Heresies Project serves to curate and analyze Heresies, a pioneering work of feminist art and criticism. This collaborative, student-centered project researches the lives and work of the hundreds of women who were involved in the journal’s publication during the years of feminist activity (1977-1993) and, through an intersectional framework, brings the reading of Heresies into the 21st century.

This recovery, recuperation, and preservation work will include annotated readings of selected essays in Heresies, biographical information and interviews with the women involved in the journal’s publication, and commentary on the feminist context that gave rise to Heresies.

Our goal is to establish a long-running, collaborative, interdisciplinary research project.

How comfortable were we with each other's voices, with each other's images, with each other's ideas?" (From the Editorial Group)
